1975

Beer production in Haljala begins.

During the first year, 640 000 litres of beer is bottled. Production gaines volume and next year already over five million litres of beer is produced in Haljala. The first beer brand is Ziguli, between 1975 to 1988 new brands are added to the sortiment, such as Ziguli Special Brew, Riia (Riga), Moskva (Moscow) and Kuldne Oder (Golden Barley). In July 1990 brewing of the dark beer begins. In the spring of 1991, Toolse beer is launched and it stays in the assortment until 2010. In 1992 the the tradition of releasing Christmas brew gets started  - the first Christams brew is called Jõulumees (Santa Claus) and appropriately to the season it was a dark beer. 

1991

The brewery of Viru Collective Farm turnes into Viru Õlu Ltd

1992

Harboes Bryggeri AS becomes the biggest shareholder of AS Viru Õlu

Reconstruction works are done to expand the production and investments are made to new technological devices to bring the beer quality to world class level.

1995

AS Viru Õlu begins with soft drink production.

First soft drink brands are Orange, Original Taste Cola and Aqua water.

1997

Bear Beer production begins under the licence of Harboes Bryggeri AS.

Bear Beer was a strong (alc.7,5%vol.) light beer, which quickly became popular among Estonian consumers. Getting the licence for Bear Beer production was a recognition to the production quality of Viru Õlu.

2003

New PET line starts work.

In addition to the existing soft drinks, Mõmmi (Teddy Bear) Lemonade is launched. On the same year Hustler energy drink is also launched, which takes over the market surprisingly quickly and has kept its strong position to present day.

2008

The major owner of As Viru Õlu, Harboes Bryggeri AS, acquires the rights for Puls trademark and all the accompaning values.

2009

Wiru Kadakaõlu (Juniper Beer) is nominated the title of The Best Alcoholic Drink in Estonia in 2009
